I loved your "reptile" paragraph. The imagery all has meaning -- and always did, in my opinion. I didn't like the word "ordinary," but then I realized that death, love, and longing are also "ordinary," in the sense you meant. In my opinion, this show is verging on "masterpiece" (as of episode 8). The music is world-class. Every character has depth and interest. And every episode leaves me emotionally worn.
