In the process of re-reading Negima for my Akamatsu series and I have to say that this mirrors a chapter very well in terms of "pure dialogue". Do you read it by any chance? It's the one where Asuna and Negi get into a fight, and the eggheads in Negi's class analyse their conversation that led to the cold war.

That I think is one of the reasons why I enjoyed true tears so much: it's not always what the characters say but what they DON'T say that often carries so much meaning. It's a shining example of the 'show, don't tell' approach you mention.

To put my thoughts crudely, true tears is a story told well using pretty moving pictures; when I want to experience a story told through lines of words, I can read a book instead.
